Chernobyl Children's Project 2009

Scale Models Slot Racing were once again pleased to be asked to host a group of kids
 visiting the UK on a charity visit from the Chernobyl area.
All bar one had never seen Scalextric before, and spoke little English, but with in 10 minutes we were up and running.
Great competition and fantastic company.

Scale Models were thrilled to host a charity visit last night- from Belarus 2007

The Chernobyl Children's Project approached us nearly 12 months ago to ask if we would be willing to host a group of young people from Belarus.

They were aged between 8-16 and are being home hosted by supporters of the charity in the UK for 4 weeks. All of the children suffer from type 1 diabetes, and whilst there has been no direct conclusion linking there illness to the Chernobyl disaster they all come from the area where fall out was the highest!

Scalextric proved that language does not have to be a barrier, none of the group had ever seen a Slot Track before and they spoke no English - but with the help of Tatiana there brilliant interpreter we were soon racing at a very competitive level.

Julie and Rachel were thrilled to have been involved and wish all the group a great month in the UK.
